lightbulb What it's for
By default, eat-in guests order first and pay later. Pre-Pay flips that — eat-in guests must pay when they submit, before the order reaches the kitchen. It’s the way to eliminate walk-outs and turn tables faster, trading off the relaxed “order more as you go” flow.
settings Set it up (Admin)
- 1Open Business Info → Preferences → “Force Pre-Pay for Eat-In Orders”.
- 2Flip the toggle to “Pre-Pay is Enabled”.
- 3The setting requires a connected payment provider (otherwise it’s hidden, with a link to Payments).
- 4It applies to eat-in orders only.
smartphone How guests use it (Client)
- 1An eat-in business with pre-pay shows a “Pre-pay required” badge on the Eat-In pill.
- 2The guest builds their order and confirms.
- 3Instead of a table-code / send-to-kitchen step, the payment screen opens immediately and they pay before the order is created.
info Limits & good to know
- chevron_rightRequires a payment provider — the toggle is hidden without one.
- chevron_rightAffects eat-in only; take-away and delivery always pay up front regardless.
- chevron_rightOnce paid, items can’t be added later (“This order is PAID.”), so the pay-as-you-go experience is lost.
- chevron_rightPre-pay eat-in skips the table-selection / 6-digit-code step that pay-later eat-in uses.
